A Short Walk from the Wolf House Gallery.

Start. Wolf House Gallery.

Route. Wolf House Gallery - Hollins Lane - Lindeth Tower - Jack Scout - Jenny Brown's Point - Heald Brow - Hollins Lane - Wolf House Gallery.

Notes. The phone rang, we were just about to set out for Ingleborough in the Dales of Yorkshire, a chirpy voice on the other end invited us to partake in a short walk, it's almost impossible to ignore a three year old, I couldn't say no now could I, Ingleborough will always be there. So less than an hour later five of us rolled into Silverdale, parked at the Wolf House Gallery and headed to Jack Scout.

I completely forgot how long it takes when you've walking in the company of a little person, the walking bit was great short legs easily set a good pace, trouble was this was an adventure, everything needed exploring, every rock climbed, every crevice delved into, she's a compulsive stone collector and soon discovered fossils on the fore shore, the pace ground to a halt while she filled her pockets. Once through Jack Scout and round Jenny Brown's Point we ascended Heald Brow, steep for short legs, once at the top field paths guided us back to Hollins Lane, leaving a short walk over tarmac to reach the parked car.

home.

Luna and Gran wander through Jack Scout.

All follow Luna, she thinks she knows the way.

The Giants Seat on Jack Scout.

Views from the Giants Seat, on the far horizon Heysham.

Looking to the long finger of Humphrey Head.

Views along the Silverdale coast, rising above the white washed buildings of Grange-over-Sands Hampsfell.

Jack Scout's a fantastic place, at the right time of year flower studded pastures, any time of year rocky headlands, hidden coves and stunning views.

The rising tide at Jenny Brown's Point, the view sylvan Warton Crag.

The ragged edge where land meets sea.

Stormy skies over the fells of Bowland.

Lunch stop.

The first time we passed this way my daughter in the blue coat in the shot above was the same age as her daughter the little blonde one, this structure is an old jetty, the one beyond was a bridge spanning the narrow channel, you could walk to the salt marsh on the opposite side....

....and all this was sea washed turf, the view the Browns Houses and Luna clodding rocks, they might reach the water if she'd pick a sensible size.

Viewing the Smelt Mill Chimney at Jenny Brown's Point.

Traversing Heald Brow looking to Arnside Knott.

Descending to the road at the end of an epic adventure.
